What is Injection-Lipolysis?

Injection-Lipolysis is a cosmetic medical technique in which a gradual reduction of subcutaneous fat deposits is achieved by injecting Phosphatidylcholine locally into these deposits.

This treatment is ideal for patients wishing to remove small fat deposits on the body and face, but objecting the avoidance of surgery. Further indications for the treatment are tear bags under the eyes. Cellulite can also be successfully treated this way - in this case, a special form of Injection-Lipolysis using very fine needles is used. Injection-Lipolysis is performed in an outpatient setting.

Injection-Lipolysis using the standard method

This is the original method, which is meanwhile being used successfully by many physicians. The injection technique is comparatively simple and is especially suitable for small, flat fat deposits. Due to the simple injection technique, the method has its limits: for good results, the treatment usually has to be repeated 3 to 4 times. Forming contours of fat deposits or the treatment of cellulite is not possible with this method. Due to the simpler application of this technique, this form of Injection-Lipolysis is ideal for patients with small budgets.

Injection-Lipolysis according to DDr. Heinrich, MD

Based on his studies and experiences, DDr. Heinrich, MD, has developed and refined the original treatment. His method uses Injection-Lipolysis to its full potential. Results that can be achieved in this way are parallel to those of well-performed liposuction.

This is obtained using a special, refined injection technique, doses adapted to the specific regions treated and specially developed injecting devices. Through these methodical improvements, DDr. Heinrich, MD, has been able to reduce the rate of patients with low or no response to treatment with Injection-Lipolysis from approximately 8% to below 5%.

Injection-Lipolysis according to DDr. Heinrich, MD, is an excellent, gentle method for correcting the silhouette, achieving first-rate results. Nevertheless, a pleasing result cannot be achieved in all cases. Approximately 4% of all patients show reduced response to the active substance. In order to obtain certain silhouettes, liposuction with micro cannulas (liposculpture acc. to DDr. Heinrich, MD,) may need to be used. During the treatment with Injection-Lipolysis, some patients discover they wish to undergo a more drastic sculpturing of their silhouette. The treatment:

Fat deposits are anesthetized locally using a cream and afterwards disinfected. The physician then injects the active substance using very fine needles. The critical point in achieving a fine, smooth result is the injecting technique. A special technique and an artistic and educated eye are necessary to achieve optimal results.

After completion of the injections, the patient goes home. Further medication is not required. Side effects include temporary swelling, reddening and a light burning sensation. Bruises are seldom. The fat tissue is broken down by the body through natural processes and then excreted. This takes approximately two weeks. On average, two treatments are needed within a period of 14 days between treatments to reach the desired result.

Some fat deposits are especially suited for treatment with Injection-Lipolysis, others less. For best possible results, DDr. Heinrich, MD, often combines Injection-Lipolysis with liposculpture.
